Over the last 20 years the role of a Locksmith has changed quite significantly, you’ve only got to drive down any street in the UK and you will see that the majority of doors and windows are now made out of uPVC. The locks that are fitted to uPVC and Composite doors are very different to the types of locks that you will find on a more traditional wooden door. Approximately 75% of the work carried out by Locksmiths today is carried out on uPVC and more recently Composite doors so it’s really important that you are have the necessary skills to work on these doors

The uPVC Door Lock Specialist Course has been designed to teach you how to maintain the locks on uPVC and Composite doors. The trainer of this course has been carrying out work on uPVC and composite doors for over 10 years so he we will be able to teach you all the things that you need to know to work on these types of doors.

This will include –

How to open a uPVC door that has a faulty Multi-Point Mechanism, this is one of the common tasks carried out by Locksmiths so you will need to know this.

Once the door is open then you will need to know how to replace a multi-point mechanisms on standard doors plus also how to replace a Slave Mechanism on double doors.

How to Replace a Gearbox / Centre Case – Most modern mechanism have detachable gearboxes (also known as centre cases). The uPVC door lock Specialist course will teach you how to remove, identify and replace these items.

This locksmith training course will also teach you how to secure a uPVC door using both an overnight lock ( a temporary lock) and also sash jammers (additional locks that can be added to the inside of uPVC doors).

uPVC doors are prone to movement especially in hot weather, this can make it difficult to close / lock and unlock your door. The uPVC Door Lock Specialist Course will will teach you how to adjust the alignment on a uPVC door so that it can be closed / locked smoothly.

Just like uPVC Doors are prone to failure, this training course will learn you how to open a uPVC window and identify and replace a faulty locking mechanism.

The training courses are broken down into sections, each section has a professionally filmed video showing you how to carry out each task, you can watch the video, then try out your skills and then watch the video again if you need more help.
